Our team at Will Davidson LLP representing the families impacted by the tragedy at INA Grafton Gage Home is led by Gary Will, Managing Partner with the assistance of Gordon Marsden, Partner and Michael Reid, Senior Law Clerk.
Will Davidson LLP has initiated a class action lawsuit against INA Grafton Gage Home, a not-for-profit long-term care facility located in Scarborough, Ontario.
Information About the Representative Plaintiff
Angie Thorn is the representative plaintiff in the action. Angie lost her mom, Marie Bedard due to Covid-19 on May 3, 2020 only one day after her 90th birthday.
Marie Bedard in early February 2020 three weeks before entering INA Grafton Gage Home.
Angie had the following statements about her mom:
“She had eleven children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.”
“Everybody loved her and she never said a bad word about anyone. She was loving, caring, kind, had a lot of patience and was very down to earth.”
“I consider it my duty to my mother to push for an investigation of this tragedy. Those that are responsible for this state of affairs must take responsibility and be held accountable. That is the reason I decided to go forward with this action on behalf of all the residents of INA Grafton Gage Home.”
There are many well run long term care facilities in the province of Ontario. In fact over half of the long term care facilities in Ontario have no deaths, according to Gary Will. We at Will Davidson LLP salute those dedicated individuals and companies who are working so hard to keep these vulnerable residents safe and healthy in these difficult times. At the other end of the spectrum there are a small handful of homes which have accounted for the majority of deaths in long term care facilities in Ontario. Unfortunately, INA Grafton Gage Home did not properly care for its vulnerable residents and this has resulted in dozens of grieving families.
